  • Where can I find my model and serial number?

Your dishwasher model number location may vary, but is most commonly found on the side of the door panel and visible when the door is opened.

  • What are the benefits of registering my Frigidaire products?

Once you have registered, you’ll receive the Frigidaire e-newsletters filled with product tips and useful information. You will also have easy access to your warranty information and product care tips.  To Register your product, you will need your Model and Serial number and date of purchase as shown on your receipt. You can register on-line.  You can also drop your product registration card in the mail.  If you have any questions, please contact us.

  • What is the difference between a stainless steel interior and a composite plastic interior?

Plastic dishwasher interiors are durable, quiet, and offer optimal drying performance. They are also usually less expensive than stainless steel interiors. Typically these interiors are white, but many models offer a Granite Grey tone for a premium look and added stain protection.

Stainless steel interiors offer the quietest wash, are durable, and provide the greatest resistance to stains.

  • What is the difference between integrated controls and controls that are on the front of the dishwasher?

There are two types of dishwasher control panels: integrated controls and front controls.

Integrated controls are located on the top lip of the door and are hidden when the door is closed. You simply choose your wash and dry settings using these controls, push start, and close the door. Any illuminated controls will dim and the dishwasher cycle will start.

Controls on the front of a dishwasher are visible when the door is closed. You can see them throughout the wash cycle.

  • What does Smudge-Proof™ mean?

Frigidaire Smudge-Proof™ stainless steel features a proprietary protective coating that resists fingerprints and cleans easily. It’s one way our products help make kitchen maintenance virtually effortless.

  • How do I clean stainless steel?

Cleaning your stainless steel depends on what type of steel your dishwasher is made of.

Smudge-Proof™ Stainless Steel does not require special cleaners. You can clean it using only a damp cloth.

All other Stainless Steel should be cleaned with our recommended cleaners.

When cleaning on any stainless steel appliance, we recommend that you avoid using harsh chemical cleaners containing vinegar or other acidic cleaning agents.

  • How do I know how much detergent to use in my dishwasher?

The amount of detergent you need to use depends on whether you have hard water. To determine the proper amount, consult your owner’s guide, which lists the correct amount of detergent for degree of water hardness. To determine your water hardness, contact your water supplier or have it tested by an outside source (such as a company that sells water treatment equipment).
For best results, follow these tips for detergent use:

    • Make sure the detergent is fresh. When it’s old, it might not dissolve properly.
    • Store detergent in a cool, dry place (under the sink is not the best location for it).
    • When loading the dishwasher, be sure that the detergent dispenser can open freely and that water from the spray arm can reach the open dispenser.
    • Because most detergents are designed to dissolve and activate at 120°F, your dishwasher will perform best if your water temperature is 120°F or higher at the start of a wash cycle.

  • How do I start my dishwasher?

    1. Load Dishwasher.
    2. Add Detergent.
    3. Add Rinse Aid (recommended).
    4. Select Desired CYCLE (See Cycle Chart in Your Owner Manual). The indicator light will glow when selected.
    5. Select desired OPTION. The indicator light will glow when selected.
    6. Run hot water faucet nearest dishwasher until water is warm/hot for optimal performance (See Water Temperature in your Owner's Manual). Turn water off from faucet.
    7. To start, press START/CANCEL on the display.
    8. Close door immediately to latch.

  • How can I ensure the best drying results?

To ensure the best drying results, we recommend using a rinse aid (such as Cascade® Rinse Aids*), which helps with drying and cleaning performance. These products help eliminate spots and residue.

You can also try changing the setting on your dishwasher. You can do this at any time during the cycle.

Depending on your model, you can choose from the below settings:

    • The Heat Dry option, in combination with a rinse aid (such as Cascade® Rinse Aids), uses heat to enhance the drying performance, costing only pennies per cycle in extra energy. Please note that it is normal for plastic products and items with concave surfaces to retain small amounts of water.
    • The Sahara Dry® cycle adds a forced air system to the Heat Dry option. It’s available on select models, and offers the most advanced drying action in the dishwasher industry. When used with a rinse aid, it offers our best drying performance.
    • The PowerPlus™ Dry cycle adds a forced air system to the Heat Dry option. Available on select models and works best when used with a rinse aid.
    • The Air Dry option relies on air rather than heat, and may sometimes leave some dishes not completely dry at the end of the cycle. If you choose this cycle, you may see water vapor coming from the vent as it runs. This is normal – it’s simply the result of moisture wicking away from your dishes.

  • What are the benefits of using Rinse Aid?

Rinse aid greatly improves drying, reduces water spots, filming. With it, water “sheets” off dishes rather than forming water droplets that cling and leave spots. A dispenser, located next to the detergent cup, automatically releases a measured amount of rinse aid during the last rinse. If spotting and poor drying are problems, increase the amount of rinse aid dispensed. The indicator will be dark when full and will show clear when it is time to refill. To add liquid rinse aid, open the cover. Pour in rinse aid until liquid touches the indicated fill level. Close the cover. Do not overfill since this can cause oversudsing. Wipe up any spills with a damp cloth.

  • How can I ensure the best cleaning results?

For the best cleaning performance, we recommend your water heat is set for a minimum of 120 degrees. If uncertain if your water is the appropriate heat, check the water heater's temperature reading. To help achieve the desired temperature, try letting water run in your sink until it’s hot. This "primes the pump" – it gets hotter water to your dishwasher faster. (Your dishwasher uses about 3-4 gallons per cycle, limiting the opportunity the water has to warm up if it doesn’t start off hot enough.) Low water pressure may also contribute to your cleaning results. If water is being used elsewhere in your home at the same time (ex. showers, laundry), you may need to wait until water use is reduced before starting your dishwasher.

Some dishwasher models offer a Sanitize Rinse option, which delivers higher heat for maximum drying and ensures a 99.999% reduction of bacteria (as certified by the NSF). We also recommend using rinse aid (such as Cascade Rinse Aids), which helps to eliminate spots and residue. For additional tips to ensure the best cleaning, see the "best way to load" your dishwasher in our FAQ's or refer to your Owner’s Manual. If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

  • What should I do when I need to add a forgotten item to a wash cycle that is in process?

To add or remove items after a wash cycle starts, simply unlatch the door and wait a few seconds until wash action stops before fully opening. You can add or remove the item and then press Start. Close the door firmly to latch and resume cycle.

  • What is the best way to load my dishwasher to optimize my cleaning performance?

Features and appearances of racks may vary by model so please reference your Owner's Manual. However, here are some helpful tips:

The upper rack is designed for flexibility in loading a wide variety of items including cups, glasses, stemware, small plates, bowls, etc. Load glasses and plastic items in upper rack only. Load items with open end facing down for better cleaning and draining. Damage may occur if delicate items touch each other during dishwasher operation. Long-handled knives and utensils can be placed in upper rack. Be sure nothing protrudes through the bottom of the rack to block rotation of middle spray arm.

The bottom rack is best for plates, saucers, bowls, and cookware. Large items should be placed along the edge so they do not block the spray arm rotation. For best results, place bowls, casseroles, and sauce pans with soiled surface facing down or toward the center. Tilt slightly for better drainage. Make sure tall items do not block spray arm rotation. Be sure pan handles do not protrude through the bottom of the rack and block the spray arm rotation.

  • Can I adjust the rinse aid dosage used during a cycle on my dishwasher?

Some of our models have a dial that can be adjusted for the rinse aid dosage while others require you to use your control pad. Since our models may vary, we recommend referencing your Owner's Manual to determine what is applicable to your dishwasher.

  • When is it best to use Quick Wash or Fast Wash Cycles?

Quick Wash or Fast Wash cycles are best when you have less than 1/2 a load of dishes to clean. These cycles are designed for lightly soiled dishes or silverware. Please note, when using the Quick Wash or Fast Wash cycles, Air Dry is used (versus a heated dry option), therefore some dishes may not dry completely at the end of the cycle.

  • How do I program my favorite cycle on my dishwasher?

The MY FAVORITE CYCLE option is not available on all models so please check your Owner's Manual. The MY FAVORITE CYCLE option allows you to program your preferred cycle and options into one button. Once Programmed, simply press the MY FAVORITE CYCLE button followed by the START/ CANCEL to select the programmed cycle and options.

To Program the MY FAVORITE CYCLE button:

    1. Select your preferred cycle and options.
    2. Hold the MY FAVORITE CYCLE button for 3 seconds. The light indicator over MY FAVORITE on the display should turn on, indicating the MY FAVORITE CYCLE option has been programmed to your dishwasher.

To change the MY FAVORITE CYCLE option, simply repeat steps one and two above.

  • How do I adjust the upper rack of my dishwasher?

Since the adjustability of your racks may vary by model, we recommend that you first reference your Owner's Manual. However, here are some helpful tips depending on your dishwasher tub type:

For Plastic Tub Dishwashers -To raise the upper rack, press the lever on the rack toward the center of the rack and pull straight up. To lower the upper rack, press the lever and push down on the rack. Your Owner's Manual may have a diagram for assistance.

For Stainless Tub Dishwashers -The top rack height can be easily adjusted to accommodate loading taller dishes. To raise the rack, lift up until both sides are at the same height and the rack will secure in place. Ensure the rack remains level from front to back with both sides at the same height. To lower the rack, lift the rack slightly then push down and release.

  • How do I set the delay start feature?

The Delay Start option allows you to automatically delay starting your dishwasher for 1 to 24 hours. To activate the Delay Start option, please reference your Owner's Manual, as the functionality may vary by model.

In most cases, you will simply activate the Delay Start option by pressing DELAY START until the desired delay time shows in the display window on your dishwasher. Press START to start the delay option. To cancel the DELAY START option and begin the cycle before the delay period is over, press and hold START/CANCEL for a few seconds and close the door.

  • How do I set the child lock feature?

To prevent children from accidentally changing the dishwasher settings or starting the dishwasher, you can lock the controls.

For Plastic Tub Dishwashers -Press and hold DELAY START for 3 seconds. An indicator light on the lock graphic pad will illuminate when the controls are locked and no new selections can be made until the lock is released. To unlock the controls, press DELAY START again for 3 seconds, and the indicator light will go out.

For Stainless Steel Dishwashers - Press DELAY START until the display window displays "loc". To unlock the controls, press DELAY START until "loc" is no longer displayed in the display window.

  • What are normal dishwasher operations sounds?

It is normal for you to hear the water filling in your dishwasher along with water circulating and the motor running. If you hear a knocking or banging sound, check to ensure you do not have dish, pot, pan, or utensil causing the spray arm to circulate improperly. For models equipped with the fan-assisted Even Dry or Perfect Dry system, it's normal to hear the fan operate at various times during the cycles.

  • What should I do if my dishwasher is not starting?

If your dishwasher is not starting, we recommend you check the following:

    1. Make sure you have not inadvertently set DELAY START or CHILD LOCK.
    2. Make sure you have pressed START/CANCEL after selecting your cycles.
    3. If you added a forgotten item or interrupted the cycle, you may need to press START again for the cycle to resume once you close the door.
    4. Make sure the dishwasher door is properly closed.
    5. Make sure your water supply is turned on.
    6. Check to see if the circuit breaker is tripped or if a fuse is blown.

If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

  • What can I do if my dishwasher is not draining?

If your dishwasher is not draining properly, we recommend you check the following:

    1. Ensure that the knockout plug has been removed from inside the food waste disposer inlet.
    2. Make sure the drain hose is not kinked
    3. Ensure the cycle is complete, not in pause status.
    4. Check that the glass trap/filter is maintained and installed properly with no clogs. Visit the Care and Cleaning section of your Owner's Manual for more information regarding how to empty the glass trap/filter.

If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

  • What do I do if my dishwasher is showing a message code?

The display window of your dishwasher may show the following activity:

    1. 1-24: the number of delay start hours. The last hour will count down in minutes.
    2. 1-199: the number of minutes left in a cycle.
    3. L0-L6: the level of rinse aid dosage on some models.
    4. CL or Close the door: reminds you the door need to be closed to start the cycle.
    5. LOC: indicates the door is locked.

If you are receiving another message code in display window, we recommend you refer to your Owner's Manual. If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

  • Why is water in the dishwasher after it runs?

It’s normal to see some water in the bottom of your dishwasher after a wash cycle is completed. If you notice water covering the filter screen, try these tips:

    • Check that the drainage system is free and clear of debris.
    • If your dishwasher is hooked up to a garbage disposal, run the disposal to clear the drain system.
    • If you have a new garbage disposal, the ”knock-out” plug might need to be removed from the disposal. (This step can occasionally be overlooked during installation.)

If you are unable to resolve an issue or need more information, please contact us.

  • Why does my dishwasher have an odor and how can I fix it?

    • If your dishwasher was just installed, it is normal for there to be “new” smell at first.  This goes away over time and usage.
    • Leaving soiled dishes in the dishwasher too long can create an odor.  If you are not ready to run a full cycle, use a rinse only cycle to help with any odors.
    • Check to ensure your dishwasher is properly draining.
