Questions & Reviews

What are the benefits of Induction?

Induction cooking directly heats the pan; heating will only begin when cookware is properly placed on the cooking zones. Fast and efficient - Induction cooking zones heat faster and use less energy. Induction power levels are quick to boil and they are efficient when simmering.

A cooler cooktop - A unique feature of the induction cooking zones is, whether it is turned on or off, the cooking zones remain cooler than radiant type elements. Virtually no wasted heat is produced since the heat begins with the presence of cookware.

Easy cleanups - The cooler cooking zones make cleanup easier. Spills resist sticking or burning so they wipe up easily.

Magnetic detector - The cooking zone has a sensor that automatically detects whether cookware is magnetic. This will reduce accidental “turn-ons.”

Pan size detection - The pan size recognition sensor automatically detects and adapts the induction cooking zones to the pan sizes in use for consistent, more even cooking.

More responsive - Induction cooking zones are more responsive than their electric or gas counterparts because only the pan heats. This type of cooking heats easier and will be just as responsive when reducing to a simmer.

What type of cookware do I use with Induction?

For the best possible surface cooking results, it is recommended to only use high quality heavy gauge cookware on the induction cooking zones. Be sure to follow all the manufacturer’s recommendations when using cookware made for induction cooking. To check if the cookware base material is suitable, use a magnet to test. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, the material type is correct. The most common induction cookware types available are:

Stainless steel - Generally excellent for induction cooking plus it is durable, easy to clean and resists staining. However, it is important to note that not all stainless steel is magnetic.
Cast iron - Good for induction cooking. Cooks evenly. Do not slide cast iron cookware on cooktop. Cast iron cookware with a rough surface will scratch ceramic cooktop.
Porcelain-enamel coated metals - Heating characteristics will vary depending on quality of base material. Porcelain-enamel coating must be smooth to avoid scratching the ceramic cooktop.

Why does my Induction cooktop make noises when I’m cooking?

Some cookware can hum or buzz when used in induction cooking. The surface controls click as they work to create even cooking temps. Temp changes during preheat and cool-down can make parts of the cooktop expand and contract. Different fans run to cool down different parts of the cooktop, even when it’s off. These sounds are normal.

Can I 'mute' the audible tones on my appliance?

The option to silent audible tones may not be applicable on all models so you want to check your Owner’s Manual.

For applicable models - When selecting a function on your display, an audible tone is heard each time a key is pressed. If you desire, the display can be programmed for silent operation. To set the controls for silent operation:

  • Press and hold Start Time for 6 seconds. The display will beep once and then you can release the key.
  • The controls are now set for silent operation.

To return your audible tones to normal operation:

  • Press and hold Start Time again for 6 seconds until the display beeps once and then you release the key.
  • The controls are now set for audible operation.

30" Induction Cooktop is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice cooktop Full featured induction cooktop at a reasonable price-point. The timer is nice--it doesn't stop after a couple dings. The slider controls work much better than having to hit + or - repeatedly. We found that we end up using higher settings than on our old cooktop, but the power is available. Induction cooking rocks. It gives you the control of gas without having to be plumbed for gas. Even better, it's more efficient. All the heat goes to the pan & the food without so much waste going into the air. Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! Replaced our 14 year old Frigidaire cooktop (still working fine) with this one. Wife wanted to go induction. We are really happy with the choice (albeit just 4 weeks). This thing is remarkable in what it does. Like the fact that it boils water in under two minutes and sensing the size of the pan on the stove. Hope this one last 10 years or better. Looks terrific. Only draw back is the imprint for the 4 cook surfaces makes it hard to see to make sure we are using the right burner for size of pan. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heats up so quickly and cleanup is a breeze We have only had this installed a few weeks ago and have not had much time to cook on it yet. However my husband and I we're watching a pan of water come to a boil so quickly we were amazed. Then later after putting the pasta in the pan we were fascinated by how quickly it returned to a boil Truth be told we had a little too much water, and too much pasta in too small of a pan. We should have turned the heat down a little but we both stood there and watched while the pan boiled over and water was all over the cooktop. We lifted the pan away, and just as in the video on the Frigidaire website shows the majority of the water spill was wiped up instantly as it did not Scorch to the cooktop at all. We turned the element off and wiped away the rest of the spill so easily. A spill like this on our old glass cooktop would have been much harder to clean. So far we are both very pleased that we have chosen this induction cooktop, I was concerned that the black glass would not look nice set into our Corian countertop. Which is a creamy color, it kind of looks like the color of oatmeal. the Frigidaire induction cooktop looks sleek . I am very pleased [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Induction Cook top I bought this Induction Cook top in August of 2018. I did lots of research on it. I had a gas stove and now I am happy that I changed to the Induction. I am still getting use to it but I love how fast it can boil water. It cooks better than my gas stove. My husband don't cook much but he likes it as well. I also like how you have enough room so that you can put a grill pan on it.All of my pots and pans woks on the cook top, so I didn't have to buy new ones. Happy Happy. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Weak poorly designed Previous owner of induction cook tops. Cooktop burners are to close to one another to have two large pans. The burners have to be kept at a 7 out of 9 to keep a low boil. Takes longer to boil water than any induction cook top I have used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fast. We have been using this cooktop for about a month. It has a super fast boil. We like the clean look (without knobs) and have found it pretty easy to clean. Most of our cookware worked, but still looking for a pancake griddle! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Before You Buy

Measure your space

Measure the width, depth & height of opening. For clean access the door should be able to open 90 degrees or more.

Haul-away

Many retailers have haul-away programs if they deliver your new cooktop. Check to see what retailers offer and have a plan when you’ve selected a new cooktop.

Check your doorways

Check the doorways to ensure your cooktop can easily get into your home. Measure from the stops on each side since those are the closest contact points.
