Questions & Reviews

8,000 BTU Portable Room Air Conditioner is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 166.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good! I bought this as an alternative to a window air conditioner, of which I have 3 and they are quite noisy. This unit is fairly quiet, with a constant fan for good sleeping. I've only used it under the "Cool" mode, and find that keeps the room very cool initially, but doesn't seem to keep it as cool after 3 or 4 hours of continuous use. Still experimenting on this:) The main positive: Many options as far as temperature and mode, and convenience of a user friendly remote control. Down side: The exhaust hose is very big in diameter, making it awkward to position, and detracting from the looks of this unit [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Summer Nights! I went with Frigidaire because it was a familiar and well trusted brand, but I was super confused about BTU level. I wanted something powerful and was ready to go for the higher 14K product. Then the associate made a good point: "What size room is it for?" They do have portable A/Cs that are made to cool down entire apartments, but with greater power comes greater noise. Because this was for my bedroom for warmer nights, I went with the lower 8K. Glad I did, too, because if it were any noisier--in such a small space--it would be uncomfortable. I have no problem sleeping with white noise, but if you need total silence to sleep, this product wouldn't work for you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job. I bought this air conditioner about a month ago. It does keep our small living room/kitchen studio cool in about 5-10 minutes. We have windows that slide horizontally, so we figured a portable air conditioner fit the best for our windows. I enjoy this product since I am not a huge fan of the heat, and it cools our living room reasonably quickly. The downside to this product is the noise level. I understand the price is fair, but I do catch myself raising the television volume higher than usual. Although, 8-week old baby can nap with the noise from the air conditioner. Rated 1 out of 5 by from The hose connection is garbage I could of come up with a better idea in my sleep hose pulls out of the window or off the back of the machine way to easily. Just bought I'm hoping it works better then how poorly the attachments are made super disappointed so far. Just spent the last half hour trying to move the machine more then 5 inches without hose going oh you touched me time to fall out

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First portable AC unit I bought this to cool a 300 sq. ft. living room in a 100 year old house. Easy to install between a non-standard sash and sill in the front of our home (we had no other option). Unit is quieter than any window unit I’ve suffered through in the past. Now we can enjoy our living room in the humid, oppressive Cleveland summer. The most shocking part is that the exhaust hose set up doesn’t look awful when viewed from the street. However, the exhaust hose is a bit large/unsightly (see picture) inside the house. Still the very best A/C unit I have ever purchased. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job Nice portable unit that works well. Setup was moderately easy and the unit is simple to operate. You do need access to a window or air source, and it produces water while working, so you’ll need a catch bucket or run the hose outside. I’m very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this AC unit [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet coldness Research pays off. This 2018 model is quieter, colder, and, sleeker than others that cost more, and in my 150 square foot bedroom, it's ices things up fast. Like... it's gets really cold in there in under 10mins! I'm very, very happy with this purchase. My only complaint would be the exhaust hook up - it's clumsy and awkward - but that seems to be a problem with any portable AC. And the manual could be a bit more clear about when to use drainage hoses. But the product itself is stellar and I'd recommend it to anyone with a small room. So long as you hook everything up right, it makes the room cold, and it's not loud. That's all I wanted. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great little air conditioner I bought this because it’s been unbearably hot. My apartment is smaller than the claimed sq ft but my kitchen is a different temperature than the room with the air conditioner which is to be expected, my kitchen is still cooler than outside. It is a little noisy but no neighbors have banged on my wall so I’m assuming it’s ok. The only complaint I have is the window screen has an attachment to make it larger but on my window it was awkward and covered the vent when at a proper length, we had to cut the insert so it wouldn’t cover the vent. It also from time to time comes out of the window so I’ve had to duct tape it secure, that’s my reason for 4stars. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
