Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there small flames on my pizza stone during use?

Leftover cornmeal and flour can ignite at high temperatures, which is normal during cooking. When that happens, KEEP THE OVEN DOOR CLOSED; the flames will extinguish themselves.

How long should I wait for the oven, stone, and shield to cool down after using Stone-Baked Pizza mode?

Wait at least one hour after use before handling the pizza stone and shield. Always use protective gloves or oven mitts when removing them.

Should the pizza stone and shield stay in the oven all the time?

No, remove and store the pizza stone and shield when you're not using Stone-Baked Pizza mode. Leaving them in can affect your oven's performance during other cooking modes.

Where should I store the pizza stone and shield?

Ranges: Store the pizza stone in the storage drawer at the bottom of the range. Do not store the peel in the storage drawer.
Wall Ovens: Store in a kitchen cabinet or drawer when not in use.

Can I make multiple smaller or individual pizzas at once?

You can, but for best results, we recommend baking one pizza at a time, ideally 10"-14" in size.

Can I cook other fresh dough recipes like breadsticks or calzones?

For now, we recommend using Stone-Baked Pizza mode for thin, fresh dough pizzas only (less than ¼-inch thick). Other doughs may not cook evenly.

Should I clean the stone between pizzas?

No, do not clean the stone between pizzas. It's extremely hot, and any leftover crumbs or residue will burn off naturally.

Do I need to pre-dry or season the stone before first use?

No preparation is needed. The stone is ready to use right out of the box—no pre-drying or seasoning required.

Over time, my stone has discolored. Will that affect my pizza?

Not at all. Discoloration is normal and expected over time. Think of it like a seasoned pan—your stone is just getting better with use.

Why does my pizza keep hitting the broiler or burner at the top of the oven?

Likely your dough is too thick or inconsistent; we recommend a dough thickness no more than ¼ of an inch.
