Questions & Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Dehumidifying Workhorse I bought this unit in May when our old one bit the dust. I like the sleek modern design. And it’s super quiet! At first, it was a hassle emptying the bucket twice each day, and more on some days, because the bucket is so small! This is my only complaint so far. But then I moved the unit to the laundry room where I connected it to a hose for continuous draining to the floor drain. Wow, what a difference! No more emptying the bucket. It works like a charm and sufficiently removes moisture in the basement. It does run a lot, but I guess that’s what they’re made for. We’ll see as time goes on. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best dehumidifier ever! This unit was purchased to replace an older Frigidaire dehumidifier that had stopped working efficiently. So far, this is the best dehumidifier that I have owned (many purchased over my lifetime). The design and controls are much better than others, especially the location of the filter which I clean regularly. This unit effectively controls moisture in the basement, which completely under the first floor of the house. This is the first unit than has been able to keep humidity levels at 50%, verified by a separate humidistat which also validates the accuracy of the unit's humidistat. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Dehumidifier! I started looking for another dehumidifier after my one of 11 years stopped working. After much searching I purchased the Frigidaire FFAD7033R1. It had received excellent and very good ratings from Consumer Reports and also from people who purchased the product. The dehumidifier was so easy to set up! I really like that I can set the humidity level! It is keeping my basement dry! Also I really like that it has the drain attachment so I can hook up a hose and have it drain right into my sump pump. No worrying about "did I empty the dehumidifier lately". I am very happy with my purchase!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! I have a very damp basement and needed to replace an old, very noisy dehumidifier. I have a smaller Frigidaire unit that I used with the old one, emptying the bucket when needed, but wanted the bigger unit to channel the runoff into the drain. Since the smaller version has been serving me well, I went with a bigger Frigidaire and have not been disappointed! I could feel the results after a couple days. I have had this unit a month and it has made such a difference! It is quiet, and actually seems to warm up the basement. The nasty damp odors are gone, too. I am very happy with this product! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dehumidifier I've had this dehumidifier for a few weeks. So far I am happy with its performance. I have used four different brands in the past. I keep it in my master bedroom and it keeps the relative humidity just where I want it. Most other brands only have two speeds, but the FFAD7033R1 has three. It the lowest setting, I can barely hear it and doesn't interfere with my sleep. Also, the other units I have purchased in the past, have the coils on the same side as the water collection pan...this unit has the coils and the collection pan in opposite sides which is a feature I like very much. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quickly pulls down humidity We've had this in action for a few months now in a large basement during some of the rainiest months ever. Using a separate hygrometer, we've confirmed that it does a nice job at bringing down the humidity in short order. It's not the quietest dehumidifier, but performance is very good. Energy consumption seems to run 580-600 watts with the compressor on per our Kill A Watt. It will occasionally kick in after reaching set point, but not for too long. We've moved it into the laundry room, and the sound doesn't carry much at all into the main room. Energy consumption seems to run 580-600 watts with the compressor on per our Kill A Watt.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great appliance so far, but... I bought this upon recently moving back to the mid-atlantic from southern California at the end of the summer. It sits in the living room of our finished basement of our townhouse. Because of its size, it needs to be emptied about every two days or so in the summer and about every 4 or 5 days now in the fall. An issue that I have run into 2 weeks ago is the sensor that detects the tank is full has failed. It's not a huge issue as I just empty the tank every few days, but I did just buy the unit 2 months ago. It makes me wonder what else might go wrong. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it !!!! My home got flooded by Harvey and after doing some research I found this unit was best rated. Well..... I’m here to tell you, now I now why so many people love it. My dehumidifier did a great job drying up my house. I was very suprised how hard it worked and even more suprised how quite it is. My moisture level was at 81% when I first got my dehumidifier and my unit was pulling 70 pints of water in just under 5 hrs. I was very impressed ! And I love all the features it has as well as how easy it is to use and filter can easily be removed. You don’t be sorry buying this unit. You’ll be glad you did. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Buy Bought this product a few months ago. Simple to use and works well. I also bought an electronic humidistat to verify it's performance. I have a rather large basement that is completely open, ( no interior walls). The humidistat reading correlates very well with settings on the humidifier. If I leave the fan on high, readings are almost the same in all areas of the basement. Just cleaned the filter for the first time - easy peasey. I am not using the container, but have a 10 foot hose going to the nearest floor drain. No leaks. reservoir totally dry. This produce has met all expectations. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a great job I purchased this unit in the spring of 2017 to replace a 5 year old competitors brand that ran continuously but had stopped removing any moisture from the air. I use this in my basement that measures 25" x 65' to keep the humidity at 45%, with this unit set on 45% it has done a fine job of keeping the entire basement at or below 45% for the entire summer and it has been a very rainy summer here in PA. The Frigidaire is a lot quieter than the old unit and I have the drain hose running into a sup pump hole that is much handier than having to empty the drain bucket all the time. I am very happy with the unit and would buy it again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Returned 3 time. I bought this dehumidifier because it was recommended and the highest rated. Within the manufacturers warranty it stopped withdrawing humidity and had to be returned 3 times already. Frigidaire has been fantastic replacing the dehumidifier but I have lost a lot of confidence in any longevity of this Appliance. When the Appliance Works it is fantastic. Emptying the bucket when it's full of water is a little challenging and messy. I'll rate this Appliance as a two-star because the warranty and replacement have been great [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! We have a house that uses a heat pump, which means that a significant amount of humidity remains in the air year round. We needed something that could be a "work horse" and quite at the same time. So far so good. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Uncertain about Performance I bought this unit a month ago and still am not sure about its performance. Initially, it started removing large amounts of water from our humid basement. I had set the humidity level to 60%. Then it stopped working for several days. While this could be because it had reached 60%, it's hard to believe that the humidity in the basement stayed close to 60%, all by itself, for several very humid days. I turned the system off, unplugged it, waited about 30 sec, plugged it back in and turned it on. It immediately started to remove water. The unit is now automatically cycling on and off around the set level of 60% as I would expect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job flawlessly so far! We started using it in our basement about a month ago, it's been great at keeping humidity levels at 60% instead of 80-85%. Emptying the bucket is a hassle, of course, as it should be, so after a couple of weeks I ended up furnishing it with a short drain hose. As long as you make sure the hose goes down along the whole length of it, you are fine. Just check it every now and then to see if there is more water in it than a few drops here and there (I conveniently used a transparent plastic hose). Went on vacation, kept monitoring humidity levels, all good. We shall see how it ages... [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crisp, dry air in my basement workshop! I recently partitioned off a section of my basement to dedicate and area for a workshop. My shop gets a little damp with summer humidity so, clearly, a dehumidifier was indicated. The Frigidaire FFAD7033R1 seemed to be what I was in need of and the unit was highly rated and well reviewed. Good choice for me. My unit has been in use for a few weeks now and is performing nicely, keeping my shop comfortably crisp and dry. I am using the built-in drain outlet so my unit cycles as needed and requires no attention. The dehumidifier runs quietly and efficiently maintains my humidity level. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the Job! I purchased this unit in late June. Placed it in the great room of my home and had it set up and running, out of box, in 15 minutes. After running continuously for a couple of days we set pointed the humidity at 45% so the unit runs, off/on, to maintain that level. A separate humidity measure verifies what the unit display indicates. I empty chamber every 24 hours, before bedtime, but amount of water is relative to how much door opening goes on... i.e. when company is over usually more water for the period, but it maintains lower humidity levels, (90%+ outside right now), and therefore comfortable feeling inside the home, combined with the central a/c.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Removes Moisture, But Sloppy. I have been using the product, non stop, since purchasing about two months ago. The product is properly removing the moisture from the basement air. However, after removing the water storage container, it is difficult to properly empty the contents fro the container without creating sloppy spillage. The root cause is the design of the container. I have a drain in the floor that I use for the spillage of the container. Hence, I now have to first spill the water contents into a pail/bucket and then, afterwards, spill the water from the pail into the drain. Its an inconvenience. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed It’s dies just what I needed it to. 1st I read the instructions completely and that helped avoid the complaints of other reviewers that did not read it. It wrings a lot of moisture out of an old wet basement set between several arisian springs. The farm is called Treventin - “the farmhouse at the springs where the valleys meet”. It did a great job removing the smells too and it’s loaded with features that use. I attached a drain hose because I was constantly emptying it. At this point I couldn’t be happier and the only thing that could change that if it doesn’t last a long time. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dehumidifier has Design Concerns I have had this dehumidifier for 2 months after having several other brands over the years and find this one to be most difficult and troublesome. The unit is noisier than previous units and the water bucket is very hard to remove from the base. My dehumidifier sits on hardwood floors, so there can be no spillage which is almost impossible with this unit. The instructions as to how to clean and to remove the clear plastic top of the water bucket are not helpful - YouTube video did assist, but concerned as to possible breakage of the flimsy plastic parts. The water container showed black mold and sediment within the first month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from efficient, low noise, easy to operate had it running in ~ 500 sf finished basement for about a month, now. even on high fan speed, the noise level is very acceptable (much lower than other units we had in the past - in fact, even with the door to basement open, we kinda have to lean in to listen and discern whether the unit is on or not). easy to carry down the stairs (thanks to the top handle) - and has 4 rollers. easy to empty the bucket (thank to another hand on its top). When the bucket is full (and unit halts operation), humidity climbs to 75-80%. We set the target to 40%, which the unit reaches quickly. Definitely recommend very highly. Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great while it worked, but stopped working way too Unit was purchased in early April 2017. Worked great to keep the humidity in the basement at or below 55%, though the hygrometer in the unit is definitely off by ±5%. In any case, the unit was kept on a stand 30" off the floor and the temperature in the basement never dropped below 55°F. The filter was cleaned bi-weekly. By late July 2017 (i.e. 3.5 months later), ice started forming on the lower rear coils. I tried blasting air on the coils with some canned CO2 and put it back in use a day later. It completely iced over during the next use. At least it was still under warranty. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Unit The unit functions very well and does a great job of controlling the humidity in the basement. The controls are easy to use and the air filter is a snap to remove and clean. The only complaint I have is that the holding tank is too small. During periods of high humidity, the tank needed emptied approx. every day and a half. It does have a connection in the side of the unit to connect a hose so water can be drained directly to a floor drain. I will probably do that come spring time as the unit will not be used once the outside temperatures drops and the heat is turned on. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor reliability I have used 3 of these over the last two years. It has all the bells and whistles one expects but with serious use- like in a basement - it does not last. Two of them broke down - icing in the coil, no cooling and persistent error message on the screen- within the first year and were replaced during warranty. The replacement process was smooth from Frigidair's part which brings the question if they are engineered to fail early... while waiting for the last one to break I will look for a different brand [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a terrific dehumidifier We purchased this dehumidifier a month ago to help rid our basement of the typical basement moldy smell. We have a 1500 square foot walkout basement, 9 foot ceiling, 2 year old construction - dry but feeling damp. The humidity level during the summer varied between 65 - 70%. I connected the dehumidifier to a Little Giant condensate pump, turned it on and in less than 2 days the humidity level was below 50%. Since then, I set it to 45% and it maintains it perfectly! That damp musty smell is gone. My wife's allergy problems have largely cleared up as a result. We couldn't be happier with this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Muggy basement no more I live in an older home so moisture finds it's way into my unfinished basement very easily. I am using a hose attachment draining into my sump pump so I don't need to worry about emptying this. It does raise the temperature of the room by a few degrees based on the nature of how a dehumidifier works (blows hot air out while water condensates inside) so it isn't as cool down there as it used to be, but its dry... and that matters for storing things without smell or mold, to prolong the life of the house, etc... It was able to bring me from 80/90 percent humidity on average down to 50/60 which is a very good level that inhibits mold growth and is comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, performs as promised. I bought this about a month ago and it is very easy to use and is working great at keeping my basement moisture under control. I like how it beeps a few times and stops when full and then it has a nice flashing light also when full that I can see from the top of my stairs so I know to go down and empty it. It has a connection to hook up a hose I have not used it. The display and buttons are great quality and easily understood and adjusted. This unit is very durable and sturdy, including the empty bucket, and on wheels to move around. I would buy again and recommend this unit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I purchased this for my cellar and it works well and it has nice heavy duty casters which make it easy to move; the tub is also easy to empty and it slides back into place fairly easily. The top of the water collection tub is somewhat closed which helps eliminate spills. The noise level is somewhat loud, but it isn't terrible. The unit is sleek looking and has a nice weight to it. If you have to physically lift it, like take it out of it's box when it arrives, makes it cumbersome; but, otherwise, I like the weight of it. I purchased a second unit for my upstairs living space. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great!! We picked up our Frigidaire dehumidifier because our basement had a problem with crickets in our basement. And our exterminator said a crickets and other pests love moist areas and recommended a dehumidifier for our basement. So we checked reviews and the Frigidaire dehumidifier had the best reviews. So we bought a Frigidaire humidifier and we realized why the reviews were so high right away. It filled up with unwanted moisture we didn’t even know was there several times in the first few days. Which also removed the damp smell that always plagued our basement. And we haven’t seen or heard any crickets since. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Third Time This is the third Frigidaire dehumidifier I have purchased in the last 7 years. It seems that Frigidaire has a quality issue with their dehumidifiers. This one gave me a F0 error. Unplugged for an hour and cleaned filter. Ran a while then received the same error. Went through this a couple of times. Noticed also icing on the lower two coils. Called Frigidaire and am waiting for a reply.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features and keeps my basement nice and dry! I purchased this dehumidifier about a month ago. It's doing a great job in keeping my basement dry. I like the feature that you can set it to turn off when the humidity level reaches the humidity level you set it to. My old dehumidifier which isn't a Frigidaire is still usable after 7 years of usage and also energy star efficient doesn't turn off it's fan once the humidity level is reached. The fan always stays on which I didn't particularly like. Time will tell but I would think my new Frigidaire dehumidifier would be even more energy efficient. I love the features and you can hardly hear the compressor kick on. It is a very quiet and attractive dehumidifier.
